What is children's medicine?

The White Paper on the 2016 Children's Medication Safety Survey Report points out that there are approximately 30000 children in China each year who suffer from hearing loss due to improper medication, resulting in incalculable damage to liver and kidney functions, as well as the nervous system.
In the child population, drug poisoning accounted for 73% of all poisoning seeking medical attention, up from 53% in 2012. The proportion of drug poisoning in children is rapidly increasing, which has to draw attention to the safety of medication in children.
Children's drugs refer to specialized drugs used by minors under the age of 14. Children are not shrinking adults, as a special group of medication users, they have their own unique physiological characteristics.
Therefore, children's ability to absorb, distribute, metabolize, and excrete drugs varies at different stages, and cannot be converted solely based on weight, age, or body surface area.
The drug treatment of pediatric diseases is much more complex than that of adults, and treatment plans should be determined based on the characteristics and specific conditions of children at different stages.
